Businesses involved in finance and accounting are increasingly looking towards IT support in London to operate their business process outsourcing (BPO).

A report by IDC claims increasing levels of regulation and calls for transparency are resulting in a standardization in this area, leading to increased levels of IT outsourcing.

The analyst's program manager for this function, Aprajita Sharma, claims global delivery is becoming an increasingly valuable quality.

She states: "As customers embark on supplier consolidation they are clearly showing a preference for multi-function or full scale BPO providers ... in most deals these players are getting first right of refusal."

IDC asserts that many IT outsourcing contracts also involve packaged enterprise resource planning systems, which could further emphasize the importance of IT support.

Last week, Jack Singh and Charles Arnold, the client executive and managing director of EquaTerra, claimed the increasing prevalence of cloud computing could change the way IT outsourcing takes place.
